Tonya Thompson

Tonya Ann Thompson, born on January 9, 1954, passed away on July 19, 2025. She was a woman who brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. Tonya attended Dupont High School.

Tonya married her high school sweetheart, Tommy, and at the time of his death, they had been married for 42 years. Tonya loved her family very much and her greatest joy was spending time with them. She recently had her first great-grandchild, baby girl Eleanor Marie, who brought so much happiness to her life. 

A devoted fan of Alabama football, she enjoyed cheering for her team every season. In her spare time, she could often be found listening to the iconic Elvis Presley or reading her Bible, which were two of her greatest passions.

Tonya was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Thompson; her son, Eric Thompson; and her parents, Harold and Rose Ann Kirby.

Tonya is survived by her daughter, Kellye Gross (John); her grandchildren, Austin Gross (Anna) and Abby Gross (Griffin); her great-granddaughter, Eleanor Gross; and her sister, DeShea Wilson (Jerry).

Her life will be celebrated with a visitation on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, TN 37075).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tonya's honor to St. Jude’s. 

Tonya will be remembered for her kindness and the love she shared with her family and friends. She touched many lives, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
