Torrey Moss was a good friend of mine. We met at a Freshman High School football camp in the summer of 1984. He was the "New Kid" with a Jerry Curl and a charismatic personality. The first couple days of practice was without pads he quickly became a team player and a friend to everyone.
The first couple of days with pads... He wore us out!! Still a team player and a friend to everyone. Many times at practice after being a part of Torrey's "Highlight Program" he would offer me a hand up off the ground, laugh out loud and tell me to get my ankles taped.
In the 4years playing with Torrey we became a power house football team. Well known around the State of Colorado. If you didn't get to see him play, highlight film of Terrell Davis (Denver Broncos Super Bowl MVP) is a mirror image of Torres talent.
Torrey was a "Man amongst boys" on the grid iron. Coming from a High School that was known for producing next level football players, (Terry Miller, runner up to the Heisman trophy, Buffalo Bills. Colin Bryant CU Boulder. Los Angles Rams. Donny White UA Atlanta Falcons, Darrell Pollard San Francisco 49'ers , (2 Rings) Bernie Leggett* Michigan, New England Patriots.)
He earned the Nick Name "T. Moss the Boss." I can still remember the last time he touched the football in High School. An off tackle play to the right.
Torrey in regular fashion running to the sideline cut back to his left found the alley and like a thoroughbred ran over 30yds and scored with no time left in the clock... Like a Boss!!
A heartbreaking loss to a Powerhouse in their own right Torrey had both sides of the stands on the edge of there seats.
To my understanding Torrey had his struggles later in life, But worked hard to overcome them and gave his time and understanding to help others over come there's... Like a Boss!
Good, Better, Best! Never let it Rest!
You can rest easy now my friend, you've earned it.
