Trent Dexter Benefield was born on May 9, 1955, in Columbia, South Carolina to Lottie Elizabeth "Liz" Benefield.

Throughout his life, Trent valued time with his family and enjoyed traveling. Trent, LOVED his mother, and his sister was pride and joy. In his youth, Trent excelled in basketball and was known in the streets of Harlem as a phenomenal basketball player which was evident from the number of trophies on display at home. As an adult, he became a huge Labron James fan and followed his career closely. In his final days, Trent accepted the Lord as his personal savior, and he welcomed the opportunity to be in the presence of God.

Trent is survived by his son, Trent Benefield Jr. and 3 grandchildren all of New York , his sister Geraldine Daye (Earl), niece Amelia Benefield, niece Earleas Fuller (Jody) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and family who all loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Liz Benefield and brother Efrem Benefield.
