Mr. Crafts made my high school experience a little less unbearable. He was one of the few educators I felt truly cared about my well-being when I met him my sophomore year at Lewiston High School in 2007. That was the same year my father passed away, so he often saw the rough sides of me, a kid struggling with grief, goofing off, and not taking education seriously. But Mr. Crafts always saw through my B.S. He never gave up on me and helped me keep moving forward, even when I was being a knucklehead just trying to get through life.

Each year, I knew it was going to be a better one if Mr. Crafts walked into the classroom. He had a way of being there for students, especially those of us who were struggling, both academically and personally. He is one of the reasons I´m now working toward my own teaching degree, (ironically specializing in English and Creative Writing). I may have met him when he was an Ed Tech, but I have no doubt his teaching classes were incredible.

Even after high school, we stayed connected through Facebook, and he still encouraged me as I kept trying to find my footing in the world. I´m truly saddened by his passing and will miss him, his kindness, and his witty posts dearly. I only hope I can help others the way he helped me during my hardest years. Thank you, Mr. Crafts. I appreciate you.
