Trent P. McDonald, 61, of Wilton, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 5, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1963, in Lorain, Ohio, to parents Joe and Joette (Lassiter) McDonald.
Trent graduated from Ohio State with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He went on to work for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 30 years before his retirement. He was an active member of the Wilton Lions Club and was a past president of the group. In his free time, Trent had many hobbies he enjoyed. He was very active and was an avid runner and enjoyed going for walks with his dogs. He also spent time hiking. He was an excellent skier, enjoying the local mountains in NH and recently had taken a trip to Colorado to ski with his brother. He also enjoyed swimming.
Trent was a self-taught musician and played the trumpet and piano. He recently began branching out into singing and was learning the guitar and drums. He was a developing composer and had written in several different genres of music. Trent was very artistic and talented at drawing and had even done several self-portraits. He was an author as well and often featured his art in his books. He was a talented photographer and enjoyed astrology, combining these two interests by taking pictures of the night sky.
He was a lover of animals and took great care of his boxer dogs, cats, and parrot. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at their home in Cape Cod.
He is survived by his wife Diane Foss of Wilton, NH; his parents Joe and Joette McDonald of Vermillion, OH; his brother Shane McDonald and his wife Patricia of Malvern, PA; his sisters Melodye McDonald of OH, Dawn Grygier and her husband Dale of OH; as well as several nieces and nephews.

I, too, knew Trent through the blogging world. He was a kind man who took care to respond to my posts and to my comments on his. I was so impressed that he was studying math FOR FUN. He was always exploring new things and working to improve his many skills. Art, music, his pets, the Cape, running, singing lessons, drum lessons, everything was interesting to Trent. I will miss his writing and his support so much. I send deep condolences to his wife and family, including the pets, all of whom will miss him so much.

Dear Diane, I'm saddened to hear your loss of Trent! Trent and I followed each other on our blogs for many years. I appreciated his upbeat spirit and encouraged bloggers to write something on Mondays about things that made them smile. He was so talented in music. I was happy for him to take up piano and singing lessons. He would be greatly missed in this blogging community. May God bless you and your family. May the memories of him comfort you.

I also knew Trent through our mutual blogging on Wordpress. Sharing so much of our lives through our blogs we develop friendships even though we never may meet in person. I always enjoyed hearing his music, his "Weekly Smile" share where I learned so much about him. I am so saddened, and send condolences to all who loved him. Lisa Rosenfeld

I was greatly saddened to hear of Trent's passing. I too knew him only through our mutual blog posts. In this, he was like a big brother who taught me some of the early things I needed to succeed as a story teller to other bloggers. He was always kind and an amazing talent.
I was so honored to call him a friend.
Losing him has created a hole in our world.
I want to send both condolences, peace and blessings to the family and many friends he leave behind.

Trent was my good friend and a co-author in the book This is How We Grow (2023). Trent also helped host the #DickensChallenge (with Marsha Ingrao and me, Yvette Prior) and he will forever be part of my life. I often think of him (with a smile) when we are out kayaking because Trent enjoyed his kayak. he also enjoyed his dogs and just being in the great outdoors.

We also co-hosted a book chat with Yvette Prior about Charles Dickens' novellas a couple of years ago. He was so talented and always had a positive word or a song to share. He leaves a giant hole in our community. Kindest regards, Marsha Ingrao

My condolences to Trent's family and friends. I never met him in person, but I read his words for several years. That is the amazing thing about writing a personal blog. You feel connected to people even when you are worlds apart. Trent wrote about everyday life. He was a regular guy, with a heart for service, a love of the outdoors, and a desire to share positivity. He was a gracious gentleman, and his presence in the blogasphere will be missed. Blessings to you all. I cannot imagine your grief.
