In Loving Memory of Trinh Hue Truong Ly August 8, 1944 – April 5, 2025 Trinh Hue Truong Ly, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on April 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on August 8, 1944, in Quy Nhon, Vietnam, to Truong Khanh Hoa and Vuong Thi Lien. As the eldest of 14 siblings, Trinh embraced her role with a deep sense of responsibility and care. At the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Phat Tung Ly. Together, they shared 61 years of unwavering partnership and raised five children: Tran, Ngoc, Kiet, Quynh, and Minh. Above all, they taught their children the importance of loving and caring for one another. At a young age, Trinh was a successful entrepreneur. She was a multilingual international businesswoman, she co-founded Tung Phat, a thriving construction company in Quy Nhon. Through her determination and business acumen, she later opened the city's largest hardware and home improvement store-an extraordinary accomplishment. After the fall of Vietnam, Trinh and her family endured persecution as ethnic Chinese. In 1979, she and Phat made the courageous decision to leave everything behind and immigrate to the United States, sacrificing everything for their children's future. At 35, she began the journey of rebuilding a life in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She learned English through night school and, after years of hard work and saving, opened her first restaurant in 1986. Her success grew with the opening of a second restaurant and a store. Trinh was admired for her style, glamour, and natural beauty. She maintained close relationships with dear friends and was also an avid world traveler who embraced life's adventures. In her later years, Trinh found a blossom of love in her grandchildren. Every Sunday, she cherished family gatherings, cooking for her grandchildren. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Phat Tung Ly; her children: Tran Tu Ly (Loc), Ngoc Tu Ly (Hung), Kiet Ly (Ky), Quynh Cuenca (Jay), and Minh Michael Ly (Diane); her beloved grandchildren: Kevin (Linda), Jennifer, Susan (Troy), Ashley (David), Alex, Aaron, Austin (Han), Gee, Kenneth, Tristan, Tori, Chase, Jagger, William, and Aubrey; and great-grandchildren: Adaline, Sophia, Vinhcent, Oliver. Trinh lived an extraordinary life as a beloved wife, devoted mother, loving sister, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on in all who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held in her honor on Friday, April 11, 2025 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM Ofield Funeral Home 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, MI Funeral Service & Burial Saturday, April 12, 2025 11:00 AM Service begins at Ofield Funeral Home, followed by interment at: Pine Hill Cemetery 1102 52nd St SE, Kentwood, MI
