Troy Kaneaster Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 6, 2026.
Troy was born in Branson, MO on December 7, 1934. He was one of seven children. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers until he retired in 1989.

Troy married Louila Moore Taylor on October 2, 1967. They were married 45 years when Louila passed away on August 5, 2013. They attended Judson Baptist Church for many years where Troy taught Sunday school classes and spent many hours studying his Bible and preparing the lessons. They took multiple trips to Branson with other couples in the church.

They lived most of their time together in Kansas City, KS. Louila had a stroke in 2003 and Troy dedicated the next ten years to taking care of her. After her passing, Troy moved to John Knox Village until his passing on March 5, 2026. He made many friends there and was very sad when health demanded he move into the long term care unit away from his friends.

Troy loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly. He loved the outdoors and having a big vegetable garden, keeping Mom busy canning.

Troy is preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Fletcher and Gertrude Kaneaster; son, John Kaneaster; sisters, Virginia Collins and Mary Smith; brothers, Alvin Kaneaster and James Kaneaster.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty (David) Moldenhauer and Cathy Bull; grandchildren: Charles (Kim) Moldenhauer, Laura (Justin) Askew, Carolyn (Kyle) Coleman, Rebecca, John Jacob and Caleb Kaneaster; great grandchildren: Darryl (Kelly), Hailey, Ava, Connor, Bailey and Ben; and his sister, Bertye Boatright and brother, Lonnie Kaneaster.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Hospice by John Knox Village.
