Truman J. McClain, age 76, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 5:45 AM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at IU Health-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. He was born on Thursday, April 28, 1949, in Hartford City, IN. and was a lifetime resident of Blackford Co. He married Sherri (Schmidt) McClain on Tuesday, May 13, 1969 in Montpelier, IN. Truman attended Montpelier High School. He worked as a welder for Wayne Metal in Markle for several years. He loved to go fishing and hunting whether it be for deer, or squirrels. Truman coached Little League in Montpelier and was a member of the Bro Shadow Club. He will be remembered for making his drives around Montpelier and generously passing out some of his freshly caught fish to friends. He loved his family and fought hard to remain here with them as long as he could.

Truman will be forever missed by his loving wife of over 56 years, Sherri (Schmidt) McClain, Montpelier, IN, daughter, Kelly Penrod, Montpelier, IN, son, Jeffery McClain, Montpelier, IN, brothers, Adelma R. McClain, Montpelier, IN, and Keith A. McClain, Montpelier, IN, grandchildren, Brittney Penrod, Lexi Kyle, Austin McClain, Cassidy McClain, Trent Binegar, Shanda Binegar, great grandchildren, Nariah, Nathan, and Karter, sisters-in-law, Wilma McClain, Hartford City, IN, Connie Ellison, Montpelier, IN, brother-in-law, David (Dawn) Schmidt, Hartford City, IN, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dewey L. McClain, mother, Maymie L. (Bricker) McClain, brothers, Douglas W., James E., Leo D., and Norman D. McClain, and sister, Betty Lou Sills.

Per Truman's wishes there will be no viewing or services.

Preferred memorials: To Glancy Funeral Homes to help with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier.
