TSGT Robert Stallings, Jr.

1929 - 2023

TSGT Robert Stallings, Jr. USAF (Ret.), 94, of Elizabethtown, NC, died Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Bladen East Health and Rehab.

He was born in Lumberton, NC, on July 3, 1929, the son of the late Robert Lee Stallings, Sr. and Bertie Barnes Stallings. Also remembered in addition to his parents are his wife, Evelyn Hardee Stallings; six brothers, Fred, Waldo, Eldon, Franklin, Gene, and Kenneth Stallings; and one sister, Ernestine Ward, all of who preceded him in death.

Surviving is one son, Michael Ray Stallings of Elizabethtown, NC; one brother, Norman Stallings; one sister, Ann Lamb; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Robert retired, with honors, in 1971, as an Aviation Mechanic from the US Air Force after twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served two tours in Europe including four years in Germany and two years in France. His medals included the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Robert also retired from the US Postal Service in Wilmington where he was employed from 1972-1992. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Lumberton, NC, a member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association and a member of Federal Point Masonic Lodge #753.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, NC.
