Tyrone's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Tyrone Dash. Born on January 6, 1949, and transitioning towards eternity on March 27, 2025. Tyrone was a man of extraordinary charisma, endless energy, and an articulate communicator - qualities that he leveraged to touch many hearts during his lifetime.
Tyrone proudly served his country in the military and as an Air Force Vietnam Veteran. Following this service, his entrepreneurial spirit guided him to establish and successfully run his own business and he was also an idea trailblazer when working for others. He conceived and implemented the Washington Department of Transportation's Mentor/Protégé program to help minority contractors. He was also the proud father to his children. In each of these roles, Tyrone showcased his dedication and resilience. And although it was often complicated in its expression, Tyrone dearly loved those around him.
Throughout his time with us, Tyrone shared many pearls of wisdom. "A Closed Mouth, Doesn't Get Fed" and "Don't Piss on Me and Tell Me It's Raining" he would often say. These guiding principles of living life to the fullest and never letting the opinion of others override your own wisdom and common sense, were not just words to him, but a testament to the way he lived and journeyed through life.
Tyrone's personality was larger than life. He was the kind of man that left an indelible impression. Once you met him, you never forgot him. His lessons and his life philosophy resonate with everyone who encountered him. Even though he is no longer with us, his spirit continues to inspire those who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Dash, his children, David James (Tammie), Tynaia Pittman (Andre), Heather Conley, and Cecily Dash, and his siblings Carol Dash (Saleem), Pamela Norton (Danny), Troy Dash (Carrie), Emily Jackson (Kenneth), Doretha "Dody" Howard (Terry), 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Tyrone also leaves behind his beloved brother-in-law Upton Hughes, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tyrone is preceded in death by his youngest son, Brennen Dash, parents David and Mary Dash, and siblings, Yvette Hughes, Deborah Mitchell, and Crystal "Tinka" Dash.
A viewing for Tyrone will be held on April 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM at 2315 N Broad St. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location. His burial will be held on the same day at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
Amidst these moments of grief, we want to celebrate Tyrone's life and cherish the memories he has blessed us with. His dynamic presence will indeed be missed, but his legacy will continue to shine in our hearts forever.
