Ulyesses Lonnon Obituary
Ulyesses Lonnon Sr., lovingly known as Jimmy, embarked on his eternal journey on November 10, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia, at Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in the heart of Savannah on August 15, 1950, Ulyesses lived a life rich in warmth, compassion, and a dedication to those he held dear.
A proud graduate of Thompkins High School, class of '71, Ulyesses transitioned from academia into the workforce, honing his skills across various fields. He concluded his professional journey as a night shift lead in the Environmental Services Department at Memorial Hospital, where his tireless work ethic and commitment to service left a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
In the tapestry of his life, Ulyesses was woven together with threads of love, notably as a devoted father and grandfather. His greatest pride stemmed from these titles, cherishing every moment spent with his beloved son, Ulyesses J. Lonnon, and his cherished grandchildren, Nevaeh M. Lonnon and Zymere T. Lonnon. To be a family man was to embody his essence; he embraced this role with an open heart and an ever-glowing smile that brightened the lives of everyone around him.
Ulyesses was known for his welcoming spirit and infectious friendliness, embodying the very definition of generosity. His willingness to lend a helping hand defined his character. He shared his passions with great zeal, particularly his love for the Lord, often found singing joyfully in the choir at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church. A profound lover of sports, the excitement that filled the air when a game came on was matched only by the joy that radiated from him as he engaged with family and friends in spirited conversations about the day's events.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, echoed in the memories of his family and friends, where his big heart and joyous laughter will forever be cherished. Ulyesses is survived by his son, Ulyesses J. Lonnon, his grandchildren Nevaeh and Zymere, and his brother Johnny Lonnon (Patricia) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In reflecting on Ulyesses' life, we remember those who have preceded him, including his mother, Inez Lonnon-Caster; his father, Charlie Lonnon; sisters Bernice Wade and Rebecca Porche; and brothers Buster Clary (JW), Daniel Lonnon, William Lonnon, and Charles Lonnon, with whom we take solace in the thought that they are now reunited.
As we gather to honor and remember a life well-lived, we find comfort in knowing that Ulyesses Lonnon Sr.'s spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to the love and kindness he spread throughout his journey on this earth.
