Vada McLaughlin, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 16, 2026, in the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dwight Kirksey officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Vada was born July 5, 1935, in Watova, Oklahoma to Willie Richard Hamil and Alma Leona Brannon Hamil. She married Sam Joe McLaughlin on March 7, 1952, in Clayton, New Mexico. Vada worked for many years as a loan officer for SIC and then as a receptionist for Physicians & Surgeons Clinic for doctors Ingham, Hull, and Hayes. She enjoyed bowling and played in various leagues over the years. Vada was an amazing woman who loved her family fiercely. Even more so she was a woman of God and shared her faith with others until the end. She cherished her family above all else and found her greatest joy in caring for them. Vada believed that love was shown through service, and she taught her family the importance of keeping a warm and welcoming home, serving a good meal, and presenting oneself with dignity and pride each day. Her lessons were not only practical but deeply meaningful, reflecting her belief in being present, purposeful, and loving in everyday life. Vada’s home was a place of comfort, order, and grace—a reflection of who she was. Her wisdom, gentle guidance, and unwavering example will continue to live on through the generations she touched.
