Val Connell Obituary

Val Connell was united with the Lord and His army of angels on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the age of 68. A gentle and loving man, he is survived by his son, Darrel Connell and wife, Liza; daughter, Julie Jared and husband, Larry; He was graced by four beautiful grandchildren. Family members include his sister, Janice Paige and husband, Jason Sanders; brothers, Mike Connell and wife, PJ; Randy Connell, Vee Conrad and longtime friend and loving companion, Shirley McCabe. A graveside service will be held at 10:45 A.M., Friday, September 12th, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX with Rev. Joe Walts officiating. Fellowship to follow after the service. Val was a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle and companion ~ he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to the A.L.S. Foundation, 8600 Wurzbach, Suite 700, San Antonio 78240.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I met Val July 20th 1959 the day we joined the marines. Val,Bill Dunavan, and myself Ray Phipps left for boot camp that day and our lives were changed forever, I have a lot of good memories of Val. Darrel, I share your loss along with the rest of your family. He was a good Marine SEMPER FI JARHEAD
