Valerie Jean Childress, 53, of Batesville, departed this life on Saturday, September 13, 2025. She was born in Forrest City, Arkansas, on October 22, 1971, to Jimmie L. Childress and Dorothy Jean Johnson Childress.
Valarie will be remembered as one who had a generous giving heart and loved people. She was born into a large family of eleven children and loved them all dearly. She had a relationship with The Lord that she showed daily through her loving heart. She had a contagious smile and laughter!!
Valarie was a loving and faithful member of the Weapons Of A Warrior Ministries in Batesville. She enjoyed singing as well as fishing.
Some will remember Valerie being a car-hop for Sonic in Batesville for over eighteen years, and working at the Gen. Corp. for six years.
Left to Cherish her memory is her father, Jimmie L. Childress, of Batesville; her daughters, Kannie Roby Blount, Ledra Roby, and Ka’le (Carlos) Reyes, all of Batesville; her brothers, Gordon Smith, Joe Jones, Marvin Smith, Jimmie Childress, Jr., Samuel Childress, Adrain (Cara) Childress, all of Batesville, Earnie Childress, of Searcy; her sisters, Lula Childress-Wekesa, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Veatricea Ward, of Batesville; four grandchildren, Kayn, L’Lee, Athenia, and Jordan; a host of nieces; nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A special thanks to her favorite auntie, Alice Artis, her brother Joe Jones, and her lifelong special friend, Donna R. Austin-Smith.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Mae Childress, and sister, Dorothy Mae Ward.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service, 2180 Batesville Blvd, Southside, Arkansas with Pastor Ercenia Strickland-Lewis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Childress, Adrain Childress, Bennie Ward, Elijah Childress, Jadien Ward, and Ricky Paige.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until service time.
The family extends special appreciation to the staff of White River Medical Center and Gentiva Hospice for their care and her WWM church family.
