Valdemar Ramos, Jr.
A Legacy of Community, Service,
and Artistry
Valdemar Ramos Jr. of Enfield, Connecticut, passed away at home on November 23, 2023. He left behind a profound impact on his community through his artistic talent, acts of kindness, and community service. With his radiant smile, Val, who grew up in both East Providence, Rhode Island, and later lived in Tempe, Arizona, had the remarkable ability to create a sense of belonging wherever he went.
His contributions to his communities were many and impactful. Demonstrating his advocacy for the care of those with Parkinson's, he took on the role of Board Member and Treasurer for the American Parkinson's Disease Association. He was also an advisory council member of the Hartford Hospital Patient & Family Advisory Council.
Val's compassion extended to emergency and disaster relief efforts. A member of the Connecticut and Rhode Island Chapters of the Red Cross Disaster Services, he actively participated in relief efforts for both the Sandy Hook Elementary School and Hurricane Sandy, among many others.
His commitment to fraternal organizations was underscored by his position as a 32nd-degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. The Cornerstone Church in Broad Brook became a focal point for his spiritual growth, providing him with steadfast support during his final days.
With his keen eye for natural beauty, Val dedicated his free time to exploring the wonders of the world, camera at the ready. His talent for capturing the natural world was recognized with numerous accolades in photography.
Val's professional life was as diverse and impactful as his volunteer work. A former Massachusetts State Constable, he went on to enjoy a successful career in logistics and resource management, contributing to companies, including
Pets.com, the Pepsi Bottling Group, and Walgreens.
Val's personal life was rich with friendship and lots of love. He is survived by his devoted wife, Martha K. Ramos of Enfield, Connecticut; his sons, Jordan Ramos of Agawam, Massachusetts, and Nicholas King of Enfield, Connecticut; his grandson, Desi; and his sisters, Lenore Ramos and Delma McConnell of Delray Beach, Florida, and Deolinda Ramos of North Providence, Rhode Island.
Val's legacy extends beyond his tangible accomplishments and services. It resonates in the hearts of those he touched with his warmth and good nature. He continues to inspire and guide us.
