Valentina Harrison passed away at Exeter Hospital on May 29, 2024, after a brief illness. Valentina was born on February 25, 1939, in a small town near the Belarussian border. Her father was drafted and killed during World War II in June 1941. Her mother then fled with her to Moscow to escape occupation.
After graduating from the Moscow State Pedagogical University, she worked as a teacher of Russian Language and Literature and later as an editor at a national news agency. Valentina immigrated to the United States with her husband Ralph in 1975. His work as a nuclear engineer brought them to various locations in this country, and they settled in Hampton, NH, in 1991. After the death of her husband, Valentina moved to Exeter in 2019.
Valentina made friends wherever she went, doling out gourmet chocolates from an endless supply in her handbag. She was "babushka" to many. Whether you knew her for decades or just days, she made a lasting impression. Valentina will be remembered by her widespread family of friends for her exuberance, generosity, and wry sense of humor.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.

Valentina was always a breath of fresh air when she walked into our cafe. We could depend on the chocolates, but never knew what else she would come up with--or say! I loved her warmth, her kindness to our children, and her puckish sense of humor. She was one of the very few customers who was welcome to hang out with the crew in the kitchen. We'll always have fond memories of our girls' honorary babushka.
