Valeria Elaine Nodd, was born the youngest of nine siblings July 17,1967 to the union of George and Catherine Nodd, Sr. A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. Valeria exchanged the troubles of this world for a heavenly home on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Valeria was affectionately known by her family and community friends as "Shorty Roc & Lil Momma." As a youngster she could be known as "Bossy" and at times mean as her great aunt Melvina but she was good as gold. Ready to give you the shirt off her back and always ready to bless you with gifts for special occasions.
Valeria loved worshipping and good gospel singing. She cherished her family and took full enjoyment of family gatherings. She loved to dress, her style and coordination was a must. Pocketbooks and leopard patterns were her signature mark!
Valeria was a proud graduate with the Class of 1987 from Lillie B. Williamson High School. Valeria was active in organizations and clubs throughout her years, to name a few: The Y-Teens Club, Jr. Varsity Cheerleading Squad, ROTC and many others.
Valeria accepted Christ as a youngster and remained faithful to God and as a servant until the end of her journey. Even as a youngster and adult in her home church St. Paul A.M.E., she was a part of the Youth Choir, Youth
Department (YPD), always Ushered, the Missionary Board and much more. As her health began to decline, she continued faithfully attending worship at St. Paul A.M.E. and later Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist of Theodore, AL.
Valeria birthed no children of her own but you would have never known it. Valeria's affection to care for children remained true. No child was a stranger or unwelcome in her eyes. She spent a lifelong career in early childhood development as well as supporting, caring and celebrating in the lives of her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, church & family friends. She was everyone's Auntie Val.
Valeria was preceded in death by her parents, George and Catherine Nodd, Sr.; both her maternal and paternal grandparents: Joseph and Pauline Smith Ollison and Beck and Chaney Nord, Sr.; four siblings: George Jr., Larry,
Anthony Nodd and Rev. Patricia Nodd Lucky all of Mobile, AL; and a host of aunts and uncles, three nephews and one great-niece. Valeria leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters: Kathleen (Albert) Moore, Jr., Glenda Nodd and Sheila (Stanley) Robinson Sr.; one brother, Kenneth (Cheryl Ann) Nodd; sister-in-law, Cheryl Lee Nodd all of Mobile, AL; one godchild, Charles McElroy; seven nephews and five nieces; two aunts: Mae Bell Nord and Lucy Mae Nord of Monroeville, AL; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.
