Valerie R. Erekson, born in Boston, MA on September 25, 1945, passed away peacefully at Brentwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Danvers, MA on February 27, 2026, at the age of 80.
Valerie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family. She met her husband Richard in Lynn when they were just teenagers, and together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2024.
Valerie was not only devoted to her family, but she also made her mark in the community through her work at the Lynn and Salem Y.M.C.A. before embracing her role as a full-time homemaker. In her younger days, Valerie enjoyed jogging and participating in several road races. Her passion for creativity shone through her love of drawing and painting, which brought joy not only to her but also to those who admired her talent.
Valerie is survived by her beloved daughter Maureen Erekson, son Richard Erekson, grandson Corey Erekson, who will carry on her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication to family, and many nieces and a nephew. Valerie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Valerie was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Imelda Wedgewood, her sister Helen Lamoureux, and brother Bert Pelletier. Graveside services will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, MA, in the Spring.
