Valerie J. Grunwaldt, age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, on the 3rd Anniversary of our dad's passing. She was at home surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Ritchay Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Pastor Paul Tullberg will officiate the service, and the Wisconsin Nurses Honor Guard will perform a Final Call to Duty service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00am until the time of service.
Valerie was born on September 1, 1935, in Owen, WI to Lester and Pearl (Jens) Meyer. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1953 and went on to Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing from 1953-1956. Valerie began her career as a Registered Nurse at Appleton Medical Center and later served as the Director of Nursing at Wild Rose Manor until her retirement. Valerie married Roy W. "Bill" Grunwaldt on September 5, 1959, at First Congregational Church in Appleton, WI.
After her retirement, Valerie and Roy became owners and operators of Moose Inn Supper Club in Wautoma, WI, selling in 1999 and retiring to their home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Valerie was a devoted and loving mother, raising five children while working full-time as a nurse. She most enjoyed spending time at the cabin with her family on Soo Lake in Phillips, WI.
Valerie is survived by her children, Todd (Lorna) Grunwaldt, Paulette (George Wojciga) Grunwaldt, Brett (Jennifer) Grunwaldt, Scott Grunwaldt, and Jill Presser; grandchildren, Alan (Tina), Neil, Bryce, Noah, Andrew, Alyssa, and Jakob; great-grandchildren, Peter, Penelope, Vinny, and Macie; and brother, James (Cathy) Meyer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Grunwaldt; her parents; great-grandson, Emmett; and brothers, Robert and Donald Meyer.
