Valerie Elaine Hammond

Valerie Elaine (Layton) Hammond, 63, of King George, VA, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 at UPMC – Western Maryland.
Born June 8, 1962, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Victor Elmer and Mary Ellen (Snyder) Layton.
Valerie was 1980 graduate of Frankfort High School. She worked at Hills Department Store as a manager. She also worked in Costco in the office.
Valerie enjoyed spending time with family.
In addition to her mother, Valerie is survived by her siblings, Eddie Layton and wife, Vicki, Larry Layton and wife, Dee and Barbara Armentrout and husband, Bart; nieces, Tiffany Nazelrod and husband, Daniel and Jessica Harris and husband, Aaron; nephews, Tony Layton, Michael Swanger and wife Bonnie, Joshua Armentrout and wife Amanda; and great-nieces; Alaza, Trinity, Savanna and John Nazelrod, Angel, Coltlin, and Steel Harris, Izzy Swanger, and Jeremiah and Hailey Armentrout.
In accordance with her wishes after the visitation, she will be cremated.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. No formal services will be held.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
