Valerie (Val) Lea Sage passed away on June 18, 2024, at the Kansas City Hospice at the age of 49. She was born on September 22, 1974, in Hutchinson, Ks. Valerie courageously fought Lymphoma Cancer until the very end. Through her cancer journey she remained positive. Although she was in pain you wouldn't know it. She was always polite, kind and courteous always thinking of others. She was also a fighter, a warrior. She did everything she could do to win this battle and remain here with us. As her mother she was my hero and my best friend.
Valerie was a talented Cosmetologist who brought joy and beauty to everyone she met. She owned Brookside Hair Works for many years retiring due to her health. Valerie acquired a passion for coloring. In her final months she found a sense of peace when coloring. Valerie touched countless lives with her creativity and kindness.
Valerie is survived by her mother and stepdad Kathy and Jerry Hendershot, her beloved daughter Samone Eldredge, and her half-siblings Jeremy, Amber, and Elizabeth. Step siblings Jenni Pope (Derek), Sandy Kent (Michael), Gina Finn (Shane) and Bryan Hendershot (Betsy).
She is now reunited in peace with her father Gerald Sage, paternal grandparents Curtis and Maxine Sage, and maternal grandparents Melvin and Maxine Proesch.
Among those mourning her loss are her dear friends Chan Kelly, Kiely Tanner, and Holly Woods. Valerie's memory will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Valerie's life will be held on Saturday, June 29th, at The Locale, 6201 Johnson Dr. Mission, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. Please join us in honoring and remembering this remarkable soul who brought light into our lives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samone's education fund either at the celebration of life or by mail to Kathy Hendershot @ 16 Ensign Dr., South Hutchinson, KS. 67505
