Liturgy of the word for Valery Campbell,71, of Riverton, WY, formerly of Dickinson, will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home.
Valery passed away in Bismarck, ND on Sunday, May 19, 2024 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Valery Ann Volesky Campbell grew up in Dickinson, ND. Valery graduated from Trinity High School, and received her teaching degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She furthered her education at Eastern Oregon University.
Valery began teaching English and Spanish in Bowman, ND, later moving to Heppner Oregon where she retired, and then retired again 11 years later from the Riverton School District, Riverton, WY! During her 39 year career teaching high school students, she offered experience learning, taking students to study in Spain and Mexico. She positively impacted many lives.
Following her second retirement, she stayed “employed” crocheting unique baby outfits, baby toys, and blankets that were made to order by friends and family across the country. She had the gift of designing these items in her mind, creating unique treasures.
Valery loved to bake and was an amazing cook. She gifted family and friends desserts and ethnic bread which looked like it was photoshopped! She found joy in baking with nieces, nephews, and later their children and donated showstopping desserts for charity auctions. She was a thoughtful giver of gifts, making careful selections for all on her list.
Val and her Mom sewed Valery’s wedding dress and Val sewed prom dresses for her sister. She was a voracious reader and a cancer survivor. She had quick wit and was a loyal friend.
Valery and Dave were married for nearly 39 years. Val and Dave were dedicated to one another, approaching life’s challenges and gifts as a formidable team. Ryan’s birth enriched their lives. His childhood actions and vocabulary provided so much happiness and so many stories to be retold.
Val had an incredible memory and became our family historian. She enjoyed researching family lineage and retained all the details.
Valery’s email address was “ndwishin” for several years. Val, Dave, and Ryan were finalizing plans to move to Bismarck, ND at the time of her death. She was so happy to be returning to North Dakota and that gives comfort to those who will forever love her.
Valery is survived by her husband Dave, son Ryan of Riverton, WY, brother Mark, Lake Park, MN, sister and brother-in-law Vaune and Dennis Johnson, Dickinson, and sister and brother-in-law Jill and Jay Reddon, Riverton, WY, nieces and nephews and their children.
