Port Henry/Ticonderoga. Valorie (Thompson) Sherwin, 67, of Port Henry passed away on January 29, 2024.
Born in Ticonderoga, July 6, 1956, she was the daughter of Percy and Louise Thompson. Valorie grew up in Ticonderoga where she worked at her family's apple orchard with her two brothers and parents.
She graduated from Ticonderoga High School and Champlain College and raised her son, Adam, in
New Rochelle, New York, until she returned to the North Country in 2011.
Valorie loved spending time with her family playing the family card game "Thirteen" and enjoying each other's company. Valorie was an avid reader, baker, and crafter and adored the many cats that she adopted and cared for over the years. Valorie was a good friend to many and a wonderful "Yia Yia" to her grandchildren, Amelia and Scott, who she often surprised with unexpected gifts and cards in the mail.
She is survived by her son, Adam Thompson Sherwin and his wife, Ashley, of Massachusetts, grandchildren Amelia Sherwin and Scott Sherwin, her brother Charles Polihronakis and his wife, Valerie, of Florida, and her brother William Polihronakis and his wife, Margaret, of Ticonderoga.
A Memorial Service will be held in the early summer, with details available later through the Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
