Place of Birth: Haywood County on January 27, 1933
Parents: The late Claude and Letha Trull Reece
Background: He loved hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and he loved to string Beans. He attended Laurel Grove Baptist Church and Burnette Siding Church. He worked as an oil refiner.
Preceeded in death: His parents, his wife Norma Jean Chambers who passed away July 6th of 1992, one Son Charles David Reece, and two brothers Ralph and Glenn Reece.
Surviving: Four sons Michael Reece of Lake Logan, Johnny and his wife Mary Helen Reece of Balsam, Jimmy and his wife Carla Reece of Lake Logan, Douglas and his wife Sheila Reece of Lake Logan; two daughters Martha and her husband Michael Whitener of Lake Logan, Jane and her husband Tommy Sorrells of Lake Logan; one brother David Reece of Lake Logan, two sisters Veta Britton of Candler and Diane Grooms of Lake Logan; 10 grandchildren Sherrie Kilby, Spiff Whitener, Matt Whitener, Jeremy Reece, Josh Sorrells, Chris Reece, Vanessa Reece, Ivey Henry, Cade Reece, and Seth Reece; seven great grandchildren Reece Kilby, Casey Kilby, Cadden Whitener, Celina Whitener, Brittany Whitener, Amy Whitener, and Jada Reece; a special friend Bobbi Moore of Asheville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services: Will be held at 2 PM Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church
Visitation: Will be held from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the home of Van Reece-50 R & V Drive in Lake Logan.
Officiating: Reverend Roy Kilby, Reverend T.M. Gibson, and Reverend Stacy Woods
Pallbearers: Arlie Lokerson, Butch Reece, Jerry Reece, Jeremy Reece, Jeff Kilby, Spiff Whitener, Matt Whitener, and Chris Reece will serve as pallbearers
Honorary Pallbearers: Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers
Burial: Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery
Memorial Donations: May be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Haywood County Rescue Squad
Funeral Home in Charge: Garrett Funerals and Cremations have been entrusted with the care of the arrangements
