VANCE ALBERT TRACY
Born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 19, 1941, Vance Albert Tracy passed away at TMC Medical Center in Denison, TX, on September 22, 2025, after a brief illness. Vance was the middle son of Clara Jane Schafer and Albert Eugene Tracy, originally from Akron, OH. As a child and teenager, Vance lived with his parents and brothers in several states, including Kansas, where he graduated Southwest High School in Wichita in 1959. In 1963, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from The State Teachers College of Emporia (Kansas.) Soon after his college graduation, Vance enlisted in the U.S. Marines, and after 120 days of active duty, he served as a Reservist for four more years. Once his active military service ended, Vance was hired by Sunray DX in Oklahoma City, OK, where he began a 30-year administrative and management career with various companies then under the Sun Oil corporate umbrella. In addition to working in Oklahoma City, Vance also worked in Tulsa, OK, Dallas, TX, and Philadelphia, PA, at Sun Oil's headquarters. In the early 1980s, Vance returned to the Dallas area where he and his family lived in Plano and later McKinney. And after more than a decade of living and working in the Dallas area, he retired from the newly formed Sun-related company known as Oryx Energy. Vance was an avid and accomplished golfer, who began playing in high school in Wichita and continued to play golf throughout his entire adulthood. In the 1990s, along with some friends from work, Vance joined Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, TX. It was there that he spent many days over the years enjoying the course's bent grass greens and its scenic beauty. After retirement in the mid 1990's, he taught golf for a while, and as part of his teaching, he developed a handbook for golfers. He and his family were very proud of his holes-in-one and his long record as a scratch golfer. Vance leaves his widow, Janice Branch Tracy, his loving wife of 22 years, as well as two daughters from a previous marriage, Joan Marie Myskowski of Richmond, TX, and Denise Christine Tracy and her husband, Michael (Mick) Tinsley of McKinney. In addition to his two biological daughters, Vance is also survived by four stepchildren, Ashley Rennie and Thurston Hutton, both of Sherman, Zach Hutton, Las Cruces, NM, and Priscilla Hutton Lynn of Decatur, TX. Vance was the proud grandfather of two biological grandchildren, Victoria Lynn Tracy of McKinney, TX, and Michael Jacob Myskowski of Midland, TX, and his step grandson,
Jackson Blake Rennie, of Sherman, all of whom lovingly referred to him as "Pop." Vance enjoyed being called "Pop-Pop" by his only great-grandchild, Aven Oakley Curtis, Victoria's son. Vance was a sincere, quick-witted, and caring man who loved his family and all sports with a passion. He is extremely missed by his loved ones, and he is gone much too soon. No services are planned.
