Vanda Joy (Brown) Stanley, 76, of West Frankfort, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2025 with her family by her side.

She was born on May 30, 1949 in Evansville, IN to James and Patricia (Cook) Brown. She married Roger Stanley on November 3, 2002 in Long Boat Key, FL and together they have shared nearly twenty-three years of marriage.

Vanda was a proud graduate of Frankfort Community High School, Class of 1967, where she was honored as Homecoming Queen. She went on to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), earning her bachelor's degree in education.

Vanda dedicated many years to teaching in the Sesser-Valier and West Frankfort school systems, where she touched countless young lives. She also offered tutoring in her home, focusing on reading and math, and led aerobics classes, sharing her passion for wellness.

A devoted Christian, Vanda lived her faith daily through her kindness, compassion, and generosity. She was known for her listening ear, wise counsel, and unwavering support for others. Selfless and giving, Vanda consistently put others before herself, leaving a legacy of love, encouragement, and service. The many wonderful memories created with her loved ones will be cherished for years to come.

She is survived by her loving husband, Roger Stanley of West Frankfort, IL; her daughter, Michelle (Chris) Witt of O'Fallon, MO; her sons, Chad (Evelyn) Oyler of Palmetto, FL and Mack (Senida) Oyler of Columbia, IL; grandchildren, Chaz, Cameron, Curtis, and Kendall; brother, Jimmy (Angie) Brown of West Frankfort, IL; brother-in-law, Joey Linton of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, JoLynn Linton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL.

The visitation will be at Stone Funeral Home on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be at the funeral home, at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, with Roger Dutton presiding.

Interment will follow in Denning Cemetery, West Frankfort, IL.

For those who prefer, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the "Michael J. Fox Foundation." Contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be mailed c/o Stone Funeral Home, 1201 East Poplar Street, West Frankfort, IL 62896.
