Veda Mae Byrd

Veda Mae Ward Byrd, 82, of the Beaverdam Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Veda was born on May 11, 1943, daughter of the late Joshua Ward and Retha Cartrette Ward. In addition, Veda was also preceded in death by her sister, Mildred Edge.

Funeral service will be conducted in the sanctuary of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Buddy Seay and Pastor Kenny Byrd officiating. Burial will follow the service in the McPherson Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2:45 p.m. prior to the service on Friday, at the church.

To cherish her memory, Veda leaves behind her loving husband, John Kenneth Byrd, Sr.; daughters, Rhonda Byrd Garrell (Joey), Regina Byrd Fairfax (Lynn); son, John "Kenny" Kenneth Byrd, Jr. (Shelley); special daughter, Cecilia Ramirez "Nanny C"; grandchildren, Laura Garrell Bartley (Brandon), David Garrell (Brittney), Ashlee Fairfax White (John David), Daryl Garrell (Jodi), Morgan Fairfax Norris (Daniel), Kenley Byrd, John Isaac Byrd, James Andrew Byrd, Landon Norris (Kelsey), Dawson Norris, Lexi Small (Cole); great-grandchildren, Marley Spivey, Ryleigh Garrell, Jace Wayne Garrell, Emma Jean Garrell, Olivia Garrell, Dally Jo Garrell, Everley Bartley, Bryce Allen Garrell, Isabella White, John Alex White, Whitney Mae Norris; siblings, Mable Gore, Margaret Woodard, and Robert Ward (Jean).
