Velma Mitchell Obituary
Velma "Louise" Mitchell, 89, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at Helen Keller Hospital Sheffield, AL. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 03, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Charles Williams and Chris Weldon officiating. Burial will be at Gargis Cemetery.
Born on February 27, 1935, to General and Jennie Borden Parker, Louise enjoyed traveling with her family to sing gospel music. She attended Pleasent Ridge Holy Church of Christ.
Survivors include her five children, Danny (Pam) Mitchell, Sharon Terry, Shelby Horton, Darriel (Robin) Mitchell, Dewayne (Susan) Mitchell; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Peggy (Jimmy) Parrish; one brother, Millard (Janice) Parker; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Louise was preceded in death by her spouse, Lloyd Mitchell; parents; great-grandson, Anthony Johnson; and two son-in-laws, Troy Terry and Faron Horton.
Pallbearers will be Brent Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Brannon Horton, Darrin Parrish, Derrick Parrish, and Wendell Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jaden Horton, Riley Logston, Hunter Mitchell, Christian Johnson, Jamie Smith, Eric Farmer, and Brian Mitchell.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff at Helen Keller Hospital and Dr. Joshua Vacik.
