Velma Rigdon Obituary
She was born in Waycross to the late Leland Griffin and Lorine Crews Griffin. Velma worked for Ruben Brothers Shoe Factory for many years before later retiring from Walmart, where she served in the cosmetics department for 25 years. She was a faithful member of Brunel Street Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Gail Bennett Forbus; and two brothers, Coleman Griffin and David Griffin.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Bennett of Waycross and Tommy Rigdon (Rhonda Clement) of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Ben Forbus (Kristina), McKenzie Landon (Evan), Josh Rigdon (Adrianna), and Heather Lopez (Stanley); numerous great-grandchildren; a sister, Laverne Lovett of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
