Mrs. Rowe was such an inspiration to me and all my fellow classmates @ NEHI (1984-88) and provided me with the support & opportunities to pursue my musical passions, which I continue to use today and have passed on to/share with my two sons. Thank you Mrs. Rowe for all you meant and did for all of us.

I had the honor of having Mrs. Rowe as my chorus teacher at Bay Point Jr. High and she absolutely was the reason I believe I continued to go into music as a career. What a positive, wonderful lady she was. I will always remember how she encouraged me no matter what came and I am so thankful for that. God bless her and her family in these difficult days. Thank you.

So many years ago, I met Velma... while at First Baptist Church,,St. Petersburg,FL... She was so beautiful... I remember her gorgeous eyes... and bubbly personality... But what I remember most was when she and her future husband Jack were courting ... I was just a little younger... and the Intermediate choir watched the unfolding of a love in bloom... Both with such beautiful and talented voices... and a future with such promise....
I can remember the sparkle in Velma's eyes... when a group of us from 1st Baptist went to Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly... and talk soon went to her love Jack... We were all in love with them both... My Mom Catherine Carroll was with us ...
Time and events of life have a way of separating you from people... but not from the memory of very special people... like Velma and Jack...
I am thankful for the memories of Velma... wish there had been more.... the last time I met her was at Wendy's... where she was gathered with friends of Maximo Presbyterian Church... what a delight to see her ... and we both knew we had a history...of memories... Thank you family... for sharing her with so many many people...
Just wondering if she and Jack have had enough time sing a duet or two... and perhaps with the choirs and choruses of the past ... How music will ring through the portals of heaven..
God bless you special family of Jack and Velma... Cloe (Carroll) Dance

Beautiful (inside and out!), classy, talented, professional and dedicated to her profession and her students - just a few of the many ways to describe Velma Rowe! She made a tremendous impact on our family as both of my sons, Dan (NEHI class of '88 and Steve (class of '91) were privileged to enjoy her talent, caring, and friendship during their years with her in the Gondoliers. I thank your entire family for sharing her love.
We send our sympathy for her loss.

How could it be that you have a teacher for barely two months and be lastingly impacted by her to this day(?) . . . . and your last contact was forty-six, yes, that's 4-6 years ago. Northeast was my fourth high school in my senior year of 1971 and I was pleasantly surprised, some would say enchanted by Ms Velma Rowe. Quite the live wire, she paced the chorus class through " Everything's Coming up Roses" with such enthusiasm. A great tune I can sing it to this day, at least a little bit. Condolences to the sons and families, God's blessings.

I am so sorry to hear of your moms passing. I really do know how much she loved you and how proud she was of each of you. Emily she referred to you has her knock out of a daughter. She was your mom first and then you had to share her with thousands of other kids. To that we say thank you!! She was Gods gift to so many. She shared so many stories of her life with us in class. I for one was happy to be given a glimps into her world. Her love of God, family, music and teaching was very apparent every day. My heart is broken for you but she leaves you a legacy.
