Velma Louise Thompson, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024, at the age of 105. Born on October 10, 1918, in Plant City, Florida, Velma's life was a tapestry of dedication to her family and unwavering kindness to all who knew her. Her final days were spent in Lakeland, Florida, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Velma was predeceased by her beloved parents, George B. Morgan and Eva G. Selph, her devoted husband, Edward Thompson, her loving daughter, Glenda Marin, and her caring brother, Willard Morgan. Her legacy continues through her children, Nelma Dawson, Lori (Billy) Friend, and Thomas Melton (Nancy) Lambert Jr. Velma was the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will carry forward her spirit of generosity and compassion. Throughout her life, Velma was a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom for her family. She possessed a remarkable ability to see the beauty in the everyday and instilled in her descendants the value of hard work and the importance of family bonds. Her home was always a welcoming haven, filled with laughter, storytelling, and the aroma of her famous home-cooked meals. As a young woman, Velma's resilience and determination were evident. She navigated the challenges of her era with grace and fortitude, setting an example for future generations. Her hands, always busy with love, crafted a world of comfort and security for those she held dear. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Velma's love and the memories she created with her family and friends are indelible marks upon their hearts, becoming a cherished part of each of them. Velma Louise Thompson's life was a journey of love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to her family. Her story will be told for generations, and her presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we take solace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the lives she touched and the love she shared.
