Velma Warren Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller’s Tulare Funeral Home on Dec. 27, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Velma Marie Warren, a beloved lifelong resident of Tulare, California, who passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 100. Born on December 1, 1924, in Tulare, Velma's life was a rich tapestry of love, family, faith, and service to her community. Velma was the devoted wife of the late Ed Warren, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. The couple married on May 6, 1945, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Tulare while Ed was serving in the U.S. Navy. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on God, family and community. They raised four wonderful children and were proud grandparents and great grandparents. Their combined community involvement includes being active members of the Cabrillo Club No. 12, Over the Hill Motor Home Gang, Family Motor Coach Association, St. Aloysius Church and Choir, Charter Oak Model A Ford Club, Young Farmers, bowling leagues, and an active square-dancing group. They were very involved volunteers in school organizations from elementary to high school as well as the World Ag Expo (since its inception). Velma worked at the Tulare Sales Yard for nearly 30 years before retiring. She was also a dedicated 4-H Leader, guiding and inspiring many young people in the community. Velma was active for decades with the Valley Oak Garden Club and found great joy gardening, decorating, and crafts, always adding her creative touch to everything she did. Velma was also a prolific joke teller and always had a new joke whenever you spent time with her. She will be remembered for her warm, welcoming home and her dedication to her family, which was always her greatest treasure.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, MG and Millian Serpa; her beloved husband, Ed Warren; and her son, Dan Warren. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Warren; 3 of her children and their spouses, Judy Ramage, Janice and Vernon Nasemento, David and Liz Warren, and daughter-in-law Brenda Warren; her nine grandchildren; her 18 great-grandchildren; her 5 great-great-granddaughters and a host of extended family and friends. Velma Marie Warren's 100 years were a testament to a life lived with love, faith, and devotion. Her legacy will forever shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Velma's memory to St. Aloysius School or your favorite charity.
