VERA LEE CASANOVA

January 12, 1933 – November 25, 2025

Vera Lee was born in Piggott, Arkansas on January 12, 1933, and peacefully passed in Bakersfield, California on November 25, 2025. Vera Lee Casanova was the beloved daughter of Hughie Harper and Ruth Schnell. She was married to the love of her life, Carl Casanova, and together they raised their one son, Roy.

Vera was well-known in the community through Bakersfield Yamaha, the family business she and Carl proudly built and supported. She cherished watching her son, grandkids, and great-grandson participate in sports or any other activity, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on. While she traveled the world, her favorite place was always her home, where her family gathered and memories were made.

She lived a life of service and involvement, actively participating in the Dante Hall, the Elk's Lodge, and the Moose Lodge. Vera was vibrant, generous, and full of personality – deeply rooted in her community and loved by so many. She loved margaritas, which she fondly called her "holy water," and she was always happiest when surrounded by people. Being social was her joy, and she lit up every room she entered.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Hughie Harper and Ruth Schnell, and her husband, Carl Casanova.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Chris Knight; her granddaughters, April (Chris) Anderson and Ruthie (Vince) Trino; and her great-grandson, Matthew (Alyssa) Anderson. She is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends who were like family to her.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks and gratitude to Dr. Robert Laughlin, Hoffmann Hospice, and everyone at Brookdale Riverwalk Building A who cared for our beloved Nanny with compassion and kindness.

The family would like to invite those who loved Vera to a Celebration of Life on December 10, 2025 at 3:00pm at Stockdale Country Club.
