Vera 'Bibi' Henry, of Chestnut Level, cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend, fell asleep and woke in Heaven, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the age of 106 and a half. She was the daughter of the late S. Chester and Naomi D. (Harnish) Groff. Vera was the loving wife of the late, David Henry. She was a beacon of light and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Known affectionately by many as the 'Mayor' of Chestnut Level, she could often be found on her front porch with a welcoming smile and twinkle in her eye, praying for each car that passed and watching the birds or waiting for you to stop in for a chat. She lived a life of service and faith and was beloved by all who knew her.
She was an avid crocheter. Many family members and friends have at least one doily or Christmas ornament that she lovingly crafted. Always independent, she had her driver's license until she was 95 and lived on her own until she was 104 years old.
Vera is survived by her children: Beverly Spong, Donna Miller, Kay, wife of Wink Hassler, Pam, wife of Bob Rhodes, and David 'Mike' Henry, husband of Sue; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Shenberger, a son, Rick Henry, and 3 sisters.
Those who knew Vera will remember her for her kindness, sense of humor, and strong, steadfast faith in God.
A Funeral Service will take place at Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church, 1068 Chestnut Level Rd., Quarryville, PA on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing at the church from 10-11 a.m. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. Online condolences at www.dewalds.com
