Vera Holmes

Vera Holmes, of Cedar Grove, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024 a week before what would have been her 99th birthday.
Born in Poland to Konstantin and Vera Belkovsky, she immigrated to the United States in 1951 residing in Newark and later Caldwell before settling in Cedar Grove, N.J. Vera was a sales representative for Bamberger's Department Store in Newark and later Stern's Department Store in Willowbrook Mall in Wayne and Essex Greens in W. Orange. In her leisure time she enjoyed walking, sewing and spending countless hours reading her favorite books. She was also a ballet enthusiast, captured by its elegance and artistry.
Predeceased by her parents, her devoted husband of 54 years, Eric Holmes and son-in-law, George Hayes, she is survived by her loving daughters, Marie Hughes and her husband, Bill and Susan Hayes; grandson, Eric Bower and his wife, Tracey; and precious great-grandchildren, Everett and Owen.
A private funeral service will be held for the immediate family only. Arrangements are under the care of Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
