Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Bragg King, 92, of Greenville, MS who passed on November 28th, 2025 at Mississippi Care Center will be held at 11 am on Saturday December 6th, 2025 at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville. the family will receive friends from 10 am until the start of the service. Serving as pallbearers are Devon Childs, Blake Edwards, Trey Edwards, Peyton Childs, Johnny Edwards, and Luther Woods.
Vera was born to Andrew Bragg and Mary Woods in Indiantown, FL on September 26th, 1933. She was a hard worker through the years doing factory work at Utility Products of Greenville. Later in life she worked at a laundromat where all of her customers loved her. She loved her two sons and all of her grandchildren dearly. She loved to travel, especially to Gatlinburg, TN where she often went twice a year. Vera was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family especially for all of the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Ray King, her parents: Andrew Bragg and Mary (Phillip) Woods, her brothers: James Bragg, Richard Bragg, Phillip Woods, Jr., and Carl Woods, a sister: Mary Ann Hill Horton, a son: Mike Childs, and a grandson: Jason Childs.
Left behind to cherish her memory are a son: Marty Childs of Greenville, two grandsons: Trey Childs (Julie) of Chatham, MS and T.J. Brown (Sabrina), two granddaughters: Lisa Edwards (Johnny) and Jennifer Childs Hood of Crestview, FL, two siblings: Gerald Woods (Jeannie) of Morton, MS, and Sally Woods Harlin of Gallatin, TN, thirteen great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
The family extends special thanks to Edie Smith who lovingly cared for Vera for several years. Vera loved Edie like her own daughter, also a special thanks to Myrtis Woods who helped Vera in so many ways. The ladies sacrificed their time to provide help and care and can't be thanked enough.
