Verdia Haynes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McFarland Funeral Companies - Delhi on Feb. 25, 2026.
Born: May 23.1948 to Late Rev. Roscoe Haynes & Martha A. Haynes in Tallulah, LA. Verda passed peacefully on February 24, 2024 at 5:00 AM in Bossier City, LA. Ms. Verda Mae Haynes confessed Christ in August of 1962 at the age of 14 where she became a member of Come & See Baptist Church, initially under the leadership of Reverend T.J. King, and she remained at Come & See MBC, until the church dissolved. Favorite: Search/find puzzles, iPad games, watching Heat of Night and of course let's not forget the "Red Man tobacco." Verda enjoyed life and celebrated life. She lived a great life with the care of her sister, Linda.

If you knew Ms. Haynes, you would know whatever was on her mind it came out of mouth holding nothing back. She was honest and direct. She was the family's Walking/talking Memory book, if you didn't know when or where, just ask her and she could tell you. We always would say I know who knows Verdia Mae and we'd call her up. She helped her Mom with tending/raising all her siblings and babysat her nieces and nephews. She always found joy in small things. She left a positive impact on everyone she encountered. So, let's not cry because her life on earth is over, but let's find joy in that a life happened and we were fortunate to be a part of it.

Verda was preceded in death by: Parents: Rev. Roscoe & Martha Haynes Brothers: Roscoe Haynes Jr., Robert Lewis, Albert Cotton, Charles Haynes, Howard Haynes Sisters: Alberta Haynes, Ruby Phipps, Pearlean Haynes, Connie Haynes Verda leaves to Mourn: Brothers: Cleotha Haynes (Patricia) Monroe LA; Ronnie Lewis (Wanda) Fort Worth TX; Michael Lewis Baton Rouge, LA Sisters: Hattie Haynes Penegar, Garland, TX, Linda Burns (Leroy) Bossier City, LA, Lizzie Culkin (Kenneth), Abilene, TX; Janice Robertson (Freddie) Fayetteville, NC. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
