Obituary published on Legacy.com by McNary-Moore Funeral Service on Feb. 18, 2026.
Verdo Eugene Werre, formerly of
Colusa, CA passed away peacefully at home in
Corning, AR after a sudden and unexpected complication of Lewy Body Dementia at the gentle age of sixty-three.
Verdo was born in Modesto May 16,1962 to Eugene and Myrtle Werre. Verdo graduated from Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp and was a proud graduate of The San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.
In his 42 years serving families as a funeral director, grieving families placed their complete trust and confidence in Verdo. In return, his compassion, knowledge and sincere dedication to his work never wavered.
He served families for more than 20 years at McNary-Moore Funeral Service in Colusa after relocating his family there from the Bay Area. Verdo was active in his community sponsoring and coaching his kids and others in sports. He particularly enjoyed running chains during football season at Colusa High School. Verdo was an active member of Colusa Rotary, and an ardent supporter of the Colusa VFW. He sponsored and enjoyed community events like the annual Pheasant Festival, Duck Dinner and Old Tyme Christmas.
Verdo was a gentle soul with a heart truly made of gold. He was humble, hard-working, honest, loving and proud. He had a profound sense of humor and loved practical jokes. He adored his children and grandchildren and held true friendships in the highest regard. He loved dark chocolate and thought chocolate chip cookies and French Silk ice cream were a food group.
Verdo thoroughly enjoyed time on the backroads on his Harley. He had been on many multi-state rides. He was an avid 49'ers fan and loved to swing a golf club when he could. He enjoyed the physical challenge of Cross Fit, competing and finishing in competitions.
Verdo and his true love of 10 years, Nadine Benz, left funeral service and Colusa retiring early to
Corning, AR hoping for long rides and a quiet life. That was not to be. Verdo was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and recovered but in 2023 came the devastating diagnosis of Lewy Body Dementia. Complications from this disease took him from us much too soon.
Verdo is survived by Nadine, his children, Kevin Werre and Hailey Lucios, two beautiful granddaughters, Harper Lucios and Nakita Werre, his sister Debra (Ben) LaMont, two nephews, Evan and Christopher (Sonia) LaMont, a niece, Barbara (Dustin) Roise, an aunt, Leida Crumb, cousins Tammy Barrett and Cindy Curry and six great nieces and nephews, Katie, Annie, Jesse, Lucy, Simon and Everett.
His loss is felt by Nadine's aunt and uncle, Dean and Jackie Marella, her sons Nicholas (Jenny) Youker, Taylor (Lindsey) Youker and granddaughter Ayla. He leaves behind his best friend of more than 40 years who was there for him over the years of his illness, Dick Downey.
A Celebration of Verdo's Life will be on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at noon at McNary-Moore Funeral Service 107 5th Street
Colusa, CA with a reception immediately following at Rocco's Event Room 546 Market Street, Colusa. Memorial contributions to the Colusa VFW 108 E Main Street,
Colusa, CA 95932 would be Verdo's preference in lieu of flowers. Interment is private.
