Verlyn G. "VJ" Julius

Verlyn G. "VJ" Julius, age 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Justin Manzey will officiate. Music will be provided by Janelle Manzey as organist. The funeral service will be live streamed via our website.

Visitation will be prior to services at the chapel on Friday.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Funeral Honors Team of the U.S. Navy. Active pallbearers will be Cade Julius, Jake Julius, Cole Julius, Brandon Watt, Kyler Julius and Dylan Block.

VJ was born on February 3, 1943, in George, IA, to Henry and Lillian (Renken) Julius. He attended Pipestone, MN high school and graduated and entered the United States Navy and was discharged. He then married Edith Nord and Lived in Cheyenne, WY and owned a race track for many years. He then decided to relocate to Watertown, SD and started a mobile home business which he ran for many years, VJ Brokerage Homes.

On March 15, 2025, VJ married Milagros "Miles" David in Las Vegas.

He enjoyed traveling to Florida for many years and then retired and moved to Vegas and later Sioux Falls., SD. He also enjoyed sprint car racing, horses, watching NASCAR on TV, visiting with his family and relatives and really loved his "Big" Truck and telling stories.

VJ is survived by his wife, Miles, of Sioux Falls; two sons, Chad (Kara) Julius, of Watertown, Wade (Sonja) Julius, Birmingham, AL; one daughter, Stacy (Richard) Block, Watertown; one step daughter, Micheline Guintu, Sioux Falls; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry Julius, Minneapolis, MN; Doug (Sharon) Julius, Coeurdalene, ID; Randy (Joyce) Julius, Sioux Falls, SD; Steve Julius, Denver, CO; and one sister in law; Karen Julius, Slayton, MN.

VJ was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
