Verna was a 1953 graduate of Flintstone School. When not raising her family in her earlier years Verna was a waitress and bartender at several local restaurants and hotels. Verna was known for her home cooked meals, being in her flower beds, spending time with family, sitting on the porch, never turning down a cold Miller Lite or two, and always having on an array of jewelry: rings, bracelets, and necklaces, too many to count. Verna crocheted many afghan's over the years. It gave her great pleasure to give one to someone and then start her next one.
Verna was a life-time member of the Ridgeley, WV, VFW, the
Cumberland, MD, Eagles, and the Flintstone Volunteer Fire Dept.
