Verna S. Gilbert, beloved wife of the late Herschel Gilbert, loving mother of Lesia (Dennis) Poovey, Sandy (David) Kaminsky, Tracey (Scott) Riley, Jackie Berrier, Mark Gilbert, Jamie (Miranda) Gilbert and the late Brian Gilbert, caring grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Sister of Danny (Kim) Hardin, Sue (Randy) Gulley and Dianne Hardin. Also survived by numerous other family and friends.
Verna was an amazing woman, Christian, mom, daughter, sister, wife, mamaw, great mamaw, and friend. She enjoyed gardening and was so proud of all her beautiful flowers and vegetables every year. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends, this brought her great joy. . She also loved to sew, she spent many hours making costumes, school clothes, homecoming dresses and even wedding dresses for the people she loved most.
Verna was very strong in her faith and showed it by being a very kind hearted giving person. She always spoke of God's faithfulness in her life and was a prayer warrior. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Verna passed away May 29, 2023 at the age of 77. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Hodapp Funeral Home 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (Rt. 42) West Chester, OH 45069 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Middletown.
