- Dean was born at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah to George Albert Wood and Mabel Ann Naylor on March 20, 1943. He graduated from Murray High School. He graduated from Utah Technical Institute as an electronic technician. He worked at Unisys and Varian, earning awards at both places of employments. He loved scouting. He loved working with the youth. He was involved with scouting for over 20 years. He earned the Silver Beaver award (in 1988) and the Woodbadge patch.
Dean married Vivian Smith in the Logan Temple. They were married for 62 years. They have 3 children; Roxanna (Steve) Grotepas, Russell (Nancy) Wood and Ryan (Mandi) Wood. They have 10 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Deans has 3 siblings; MaryLee, Lynn (Venetta) and Donald.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn, Venetta, Donald and 1 grandson.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Aspire Hospice and their staff, Taylorsville 15th Ward members and IMC Paracentesis Clinic.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at Taylorsville 15th Ward House (1457 W. Atherton Dr., Taylorsville, UT). A viewing will be take place prior to services at 9:30 am – 10:45 am. Interment will follow at Murray City Cemetery.

I will miss Uncle Dean. He was always teasing us, had a great sense of humor. He was also very patient and kind. I remember him teaching me many things like how to pay chess. I love you Uncle Dean. Much love to Aunt Vivian, Roxie,Russ and Ryan.
