It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Vernett Earl Rose, affectionately known as Earl, age 70, of
Bloomfield, Connecticut. Earl departed this life on October 31, 2025, at Hartford Hospital, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Earl was born on June 27, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica. In 1972, he made Hartford, Connecticut, his new home, where he would spend his adult life building lasting relationships and contributing to his community. He was predeceased by his parents, Elfreda Vincent and Herman Caleb Rose. Earl's legacy continues through his children: Tylon Jenkins (Texas) and Daniel Rose (Virginia), and stepchildren, Nicholas Chuck and Kayana Chuck (Virginia). He is also survived by his sisters, Winsome Collins and Joylin Rose; his brother, Winston Rose (Ruth Rose); and nephews, Gowon and Tireak C. Tulloch (Debbie-Ann K. Ellington-Tulloch). Earl leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, including Andrew (Julie) and Julian Rose, Brittney Bennett, and many cherished grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Earl began his education in Kingston, Jamaica, and later attended Weaver High School in Hartford, Connecticut. He went on to build a diverse and accomplished career, working at IBM in Southbury, Advo Inc., Nassau Furniture in Hartford, AT&T Broadband Cable Service, and Konica. Earl retired from Konica, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work across every role he held.
Earl was a cherished member of the Sportsmen's Athletic Club, where he was known as Rose or Bingi. His love for cricket brought people together and created countless lasting memories. One of his most remarkable achievements was taking 9 consecutive wickets in a single game, a feat still fondly remembered by all who witnessed it. But beyond his skill, it was Earl's kindness, humor, and camaraderie that truly defined his presence on and off the field. His absence will be deeply felt by everyone who had the pleasure of playing alongside him or cheering from the sidelines. His spirit will live on in every story shared, every game played, and every friendship he helped nurture.
Earl's passion for competition and connection extended beyond the cricket pitch. He was an avid domino player, known for turning simple matches into joyful gatherings filled with laughter, strategy, and friendly rivalry. More than just a familiar face at Sportsmen's, Earl was a cornerstone of its spirit, someone whose sportsmanship, generosity, and encouragement uplifted all around him. His legacy will live on in the stories told, the games played, and the community he helped build. His passing leaves a void, and he will be lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
To his beloved family, Earl cherished every moment-both big and small-shared at gatherings, whether it was a birthday, graduation, holiday, or cookout. He made it a point to be there, blessing each occasion with his presence and love. Earl also found peace and joy at New London's Ocean Beach during the summer months, spending his days basking in the sun or laughing as he chased his son toward the waves. To his close and extended family, it was always a joy just to see him. He will be deeply missed for his infectious smile and the joyful laughter that brightened every gathering.
Earl will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, strength, and unwavering love left a lasting impression on everyone he met. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the memories, the laughter, and the legacy he leaves behind. May his spirit continue to inspire us, and may he rest in eternal peace.
