Vernette L. Gaare passed peacefully to her Heavenly home on June 4, 2024. She was 96 years old. Mom was born on March 3, 1928, in
Palatine, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Meta (Meyer) Hagenow. She attended school at Immanuel Lutheran and Palatine High School. She was a lifetime resident of Palatine and worked at District 15 as head cook until retirement. She served as chaplain for the American Legion Woman's Auxiliary. Mom loved to travel, and her most cherished vacation was when she had the opportunity to visit nine European countries, in addition to several trips over the years to
Hackensack, MN to our parents friend's lake resort. However, the role that she valued the most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mom leaves behind a special legacy that deeply touched all those who came to know her.
Her highest values, which were passed on from her own mother, was her faith and trust in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She never passed up the opportunity to help anyone. Mom leaves us with more than we can put here in words, and we are all so thankful for her unconditional love. We find comfort in knowing that Mom, Dad, MaryAnn, Brandon, and the rest of the family are rejoicing in Heaven.
Survived by her sons, Steven (Dawn), Jim, David, and Tim (Sue) Gaare. Precious grandchildren, Kim (Rick) Nolan, Beth (Sean) Sullivan, Melissa (Russell) Montgomery, Payton Gaare, Becca and Elizabeth Gaare, step grandson, Jeff (Joan) Cramm, also survived by many great grandchildren she loved so dearly. She is proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, daughter, MaryAnn Restelli, grandson, Brandon Gaare, stepson, Calvin Gaare, stepdaughter, Jeanette Every, step granddaughters, Renee Prendergast and Becky Williams, sister Elverna Stroud, brothers John (the late Joanne), Clarence (Jayne), and Ernie (Margaret) Hagenow.
