Vernice Lovell Obituary
She was born on Oct. 22, 1923, in Rabun County, Ga., to the late Marvin C. Elliott and Julie Carson Elliott. She was preceded in death by two husbands: George F. Crunkleton, who passed away in 1958, and Isaac N. Lovell, who passed away in 1986.
Vernice graduated from Rabun County High School in 1940 and went on to serve her community as a beautician for over 40 years. She began her career working with Winnie Lovell before opening her own shop, where she formed lasting friendships and touched many lives. Vernice had a deep love for the outdoors-she took great pride in her garden and flower beds and much preferred working outside, though she always kept a tidy home. A devoted and Godly woman, Vernice was known for her selflessness, always putting others before herself. She shared her talents by volunteering at the local nursing home, offering hair care to the residents as an act of love and kindness. Above all, she cherished her family dearly and lived a life full of compassion and service.
She is survived by one son, Don Crunkleton and his wife Margaret of Tiger, Ga.; a special great-grandson, Jackie Lee Buchanan; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Crunkleton Thompson and her husband Harold; one son, Glenn Crunkleton and his wife Andea; one great-grandchild, Lauryn Ramey; one great-great-granddaughter, Auroura Lovell; one brother, R.L. Elliott; and one sister, Vedell Shook.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Cannon officiating. The family received friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Hunter Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Interment followed the service at Liberty Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Liberty Community Cemetery, PO Box 5, Clayton, GA 30525.
