Vernon Daniel Harker born 27 May 1943 in Akron, Ohio died 7 Jan 2026 at home in Asheboro, NC.
Survived by his daughter, Christina Marie Harker of Goldsboro, Stepdaughter Candace Bongiovanni (Mike) of Asheboro,5 brothers and sisters. Preceded in death by his first wife, Gwenlynn C. Harker on September 21, 2002, followed by the recent passing of his second wife, Geraldine Harker, October 2025.
Dan served our country during the Vietnam era with service in the USAF. He enjoyed bowling every Tuesday at a league in Asheboro, NC. He was a faithful member of Sunset Avenue Church of God. He served as a softball coach and umpire, in Uniontown, Ohio. He enjoyed playing computer games, especially ones that included flying WW II aircraft. He loved all animals, especially little Mia, and outdoor stray cat, Snickers.
A graveside service for Mr. Harker will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Randolph Memorial Park, conducted by Reverend Boyd Byerly. Military honors will be provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made in Mr. Harker's memory to Samaritan's Purse or to a charity of your choice.
