POWDERLY - Vernon Lee Payton, 68, of Powderly, died Thursday, November 3, 2016, at 2:00AM at his home. Mr. Payton was born July 30, 1948, in Muhlenberg County. He was a delivery man for Jim White and Clark's Appliance, and also worked at a saw mill in Cleaton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mable and Carl Payton; four brothers; three sisters; one son; and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Delma Ann Lear Payton of Powderly; daughter Veronica (Chuck) Hubler of Hopkinsville; step-daughter Charlotte (David) Groves of Greenville; step-sons James (Anissa) Sweeney of Indianapolis, IN and Dalton (Laura) Sweeney of Greenville; eleven grandchildren; and sisters Dorothy Nell Majors and Mickey Nanny, both of Powderly. Funeral services will be Sunday, November 6, 2016, at 2:30PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Mike DeArmond officiating. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
