VERNON WALLIS

Dodge City: Vernon W. Wallis, 81, died October 18, 2025 at Dodge City surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on March 13, 1944 at Pampa, Texas the son of Vernon Oliver and Ella (Cooper) Wallis.
Vernon started young at a family dairy and at the age of 14 as a Kirby salesman, later working his way up to become the owner of the Kirby distributor of Western Kansas. He won numerous sales awards and trips from the Kirby Company for his hard work over 30 plus years. After leaving the Kirby Company he went to work as an over the road truck driver for Johnny Appel Trucking Company and then Kindsvater Trucking Company. He later worked for Ford County as a truck driver before retiring. He was also the owner and operator of Triple R Recreation Center. Vernon always had a love for raising cattle and taking care of animals. He loved to check his cattle in his side by side with his dog "Butch". He was a member of the Livestock Association.
He is survived by his five children, Corey Wallis and wife Amber of Dodge City; Mike Wallis and wife Shawna of Tucson, Arizona; Bud Wallis of Buffalo, Oklahoma; Christeena Jackson of Dodge City; Ginger Wallace and husband Paul of Laverne, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his brother Stanley Wallis and wife Ellie of Ecuador and six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday October 25, 2025 at 9:00 AM with Minister Dusty Cookson presiding. Burial will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Balko, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
