MR. VERNON WRIGHT- Age 73, of Decatur, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Vernon Clayton Wright, was born on September 13, 1952, in Wise County, Virginia, to Mary Beatrice Scales and Vernon Davis. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Beatrice Scales Salters; father, Vernon Davis; grandmother, Meria Arelia Branch; grandfather, Rev. Leslie Scales; brother, Donnie Ray Salters; and step-grandfather, James Thomas Wright.

Vernon's legacy is cherished by his daughter, Victoria A. Williams, and grandson, Shaquille D. Williams; his son, Vernon KC Wright (Reneesha), along with his granddaughters, Naima and Nyla Wright. He also leaves behind the mother of his children, Bazalene Wright, extended family, and many friends.

A proud United States Marine Corps Sergeant, Vernon was a dedicated service member who earned several awards during his military career, including the Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal and was essential to Camp Lejeune. Following his

military service, he was employed with the National Park Service more than 30 years relocating through-out the United States and he retired. Vernon was a jack of all trades, known for his ability to fix almostanything. He was a skilled craftsmen, farmer & gardener and was a culinary wonder on the BBQ grill. Vernon loved sports and a avid NFL supporter. Veron will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Vernon Wright will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 12 Noon at New Salem Baptist Church, 756 Dewberry Road Rossville, Ga 30741 with Pastor Andre Sharpe and other Ministers. The Family will receive friends an hour before the service.Following the Funeral Service, the Interment will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
