Veronica Qualls

Veronica Qualls received her wings unexpectedly on Friday, November 1, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 55.
A true firecracker, Veronica was defined by her passionate spirit, sharp wit, and profound intelligence. She possessed a beautifully flawed mind that found expression through poetry, telling powerful stories of pain and happiness that resonated deeply with all who read them. Veronica was a devoted nature lover who found peace in the cycle of life, adoring the moon, the stars, the sunrise, and the sunset. She often embraced the name Imoja, a variation of the Orisha of the sea, Yemeya, a powerful connection she shared with her granddaughter, Syren (named for mermaids).
Veronica dedicated her life to helping others, working tirelessly as an advocate for traumatized women and championing the critical causes of mental health and drug addiction awareness. Her profound capacity for empathy was often masked by a mischievous sense of humor; her daughter fondly remembers their ability to find shared laughter even during difficult doctor's appointments and hospital visits. The two of them together were a beautiful mess, often bonding over books, especially those her daughter would "trade" (take) from her.
Veronica absolutely loved her grandchildren, Scott and Syren, with all her heart.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Channie, her devoted brother, Bruce, and his wife, Lynn. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Scott and Syren, and her beloved nephews, Bruce, Jr., Trey, and Tevin (with his wife, Emily). She was preceded in death by her mother, Channie Qualls, in childhood, and her father, Mickey Qualls, in adulthood.
Veronica was cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Details will be announced once finalized.
